1. well you can try muscel cream then try stretches.
2. I have degenerative disc disease that causes pain in my lower back. I have been to several different neuro surgeons who say that surgery is not an option for me. I have gone to physical therapy where they have tried massages, traction, ultra sound, stretching exercises and water aerobics. If your back pain is recurring and if it is doable I recommend going to see your doctor who could get you to see a physical therapist. The best thing I could do is lose weight and strengthen my stomach muscles. You may also be able to get cortisone injection from a neuro surgeon which may have temporary relief.
3. Without an extensive exercise program or, depending on your insurance, a chiropractic regimen, I find that a nice little device called the posture curve combines short exercises with posture reinforcement to help relieve low back pain and stiffness.
