I have been getting a really bad tension headache every time I have sex. What can I do to make it stop?
I'm fine until I start to climax. The headache is so bad I have to stop and rest for at least 10 minutes before I can start again. And this has happened now 4 times. Please, no stupid opinions, I want actual facts and advice.

1. Try anal. Researchers at the Mayo Clinic have found that anal sex reduces the chances of post sexual headaches.
2. You definitely want to bring this up with your gynecologist. It could be something very serious, and you should probably call and make an appointment to pinpoint what is causing this. It could be something small, or it could be something that needs to be fixed.
3. First let me say that this is not an uncommon occurrence, and it does not mean there is anything seriously wrong with you, or your sexual activity.
There are generally considered to be two types of these headaches. In one, the excitement building up with sexual activity causes muscle contraction in the head and neck, and this causes head pain.
It usually builds up to a maximum just before or at orgasm, and soon goes away.
The second type is caused by changes in blood vessels in the head and is probably a form of migraine.
It is a very intense, severe headache usually occurring just before or during orgasm. It has been called an 'orgasmic headache' or 'orgasmic cephalalgic'
The pain may be around or behind the eyes, and can last from a few minutes to a few hours.
It can be treated effectively, sometimes with drugs called beta-blockers, and sometimes anti-migraine drugs can be effective, but they need to be taken before intercourse.
i hope this helps.... see your doctor , do not be embarrassed
4. dont have SEX so long... go to a DR and ask or web md
5. Without knowing your past medical history and who you are, it is very hard (if not impossible) to diagnose over the Internet. I would suggest, therefore, the following. I would make an appointment with your obgyn ASAP. I don't know how old you are and that may or may not be relevant.
I do know this, however.... if you have suffered trauma (abuse / rape / low self-esteem) in any way, it could have you suffering from long-term mental health issues that manifest themselves during sex. If this is the case, you may need to seek counseling as well as treatment from your obgyn.
It may also be a physical issuue, that is unrelated to any sort of past (or even current) trauma and that is best diagnosed and solved with medical care.
Best of luck to you. Hope this helps.
6. Sex headaches are headaches brought on by sexual activity — especially an orgasm. You may notice a dull ache in your head and neck that builds up as sexual excitement increases. Or, more commonly, you may experience a sudden, severe headache just before or during orgasm.
Most sex headaches are nothing to worry about. But some can be a sign of something serious, such as problems with the blood vessels that feed your brain.
Consult your doctor right away if you experience a headache during sexual activity — especially if it begins abruptly or it's your first headache of this type.
7. hmmm... I am wondering whether you might have cohital migraines or whether it is a symptom of something more serious...
I used to have the same thing, where close to climaxing I would get a severe migraine. I could feel a severe throbbing migraine and it felt as if I was dying.. I went to see my doctor. She immediately took me top the hospital where I was given a CAT scan, MRI and an angiogram. It turned out that I had a burst aneurism, causing me several small strokes.
I had a stent inserted, and made a full recovery!
It is certainly something you should have checked out!
I wish you a speedy recovery!
Wish you all the best!
xoxoxo!
