What to do about upper back pain and neck pain?
I have neck pain but the pain is on the right side of my neck only and not the other side. Also I have upper back pain/cervical back pain. The pain is so bad that it feels like something is pushing my spine inward. It hurts but I am scared to see my doctor. Also I have bilateral upper arm pain which is weird too?

1. I know neck pain can cause back pain as I've been suffering from a pulled muscle in my neck for almost a month now. It can also cause pain in your bicep. But as for the cevical pain no clue. But ibuprofen works best for joint and muscle strains. If you've already took some and the cervical pain is still effecting your spine I would go to the hospital if you can. it could be some type of spinal injury or other spinal problem.
2. You should see your doctor. If not make a trip to a physiotherapist.
Neck pain can be so mild that it is merely annoying and distracting. Or it can be so severe that it is unbearable and incapacitating.
Most instances of neck pain are minor and commonly caused by something you did. That is, if you keep your head in an awkward position for too long the joints in your neck can "lock" and the neck muscles can become painfully fatigued. Poor postures while working, watching TV, using a computer, reading a book, or talking on the phone with the receiver held against your shoulder and under your chin can be responsible for neck pain.
Neck pain that persists for many days or keeps coming back may be a sign that something is wrong. Disease, an injury (such as whiplash in an auto accident), a congenital malformation, or age-related changes may be responsible for more significant pain. A trained medical professional must determine the underlying causes of such neck pain. Examination and diagnosis by a medical doctor and treatment by a physical therapist may quickly relieve your pain or help you deal with it on a long-term basis.
3. I have had chronic neck pain for over 25 years. I fell years ago and never got treated. I may have been better if I had gone to the Dr.
I have 3 bulging disks c4 c5 c6. I also have arthritis and nerve damage in those disks. I am in pain 24 /7 and am unable to work. The pain is only on the left side of my neck. Never the right.
I also have arm pain , but its not to bad.
I would get to the Dr. and get an MRI to see what is going on. Get some treatment now before it gets worse. You dont want to live like I have had to. It took years for them to find the disk problems and the nerve problems. I was called a drug seeker and a lonely housewife and put off. Sent home with anti inflammatories that never worked good enough. I was left in pain. Pain medicine is just a thing to help you get by. It wont be the fix. I am on 180 mg of MS Contin now a day and I am still in a good deal of pain. Get Physical Therapy now and any help they will offer you so you dont end up like this.
Dont let the Dr.s put you off like they did me..didn'tdnt have anyone to be an advocate for me. You will need someone to go with you who can tell the Dr. that you are in pain and need tests and help.
I have had nerve blocks that didn't work, physical therapy that was to late and didnt work. Now, I am disabled and on pain medicine that is miserable because of the side effects and limited to what I can do without hurting really bad. It sucks.
I hope you get more help than I did and get a good Dr. I wish you the best.
