How many small bales of hay can I fit into bed of a long bed pickup? What is proper stacking. How many bottom row, next row and stacking style? No headache rack. thanks

1. I haul 34 to 39 bales in my pickup depending on how far I have to travel or how strong the wind is blowing.
RULE # 1 for stacking hay in barn or pickup ALWAYS interlock the bales.
1st layer longways with strings on side of bales -you should have 4 -3-4=11.
2nd layer hang the bales over the side of truck bed about 8 to 10 inches -placing them the opposite direction of the 1st layer. Place a single bale down the center which would make a five stack- times 3 =15
3rd layer 3-3-3=9
Total 35 (a lot depends on how big the bales are and how tight they are tied)
You must tie the load down with straps or rope.
Another secret is tying the top bales to the bottom bales with a rope or even hay string. No sharp turns !!! Drive slow and steady and careful.
