Ways to get rid of knee pain from a possible meniscus tear?

My knee is messed up right now and it keeps being in an aching non stop pain whenever I walk or do anything and even when I relax. I am going to my orthopedic in a week but until then, does anyone know of something that can stop the pain or subdue it for a little while? I already have tried motrin, no help. I have tried ice, but it makes it feel even more stiff.

1. I'm not sure of the best way to manage the pain, but you could try going to a pain management center like Bauerfeind - http://www.raisingyourpotential.com - They will do an evaluation of your injury and suggest ways to manage your pain and reduce risk of further injury. They will also work with whatever physical therapy you are currently undergoing to get you the best results. It might be worth checking out.
