Does taking more than the recommended dose of two aspirin provide greater pain relief from a common headache?
In other words, will taking a third aspirin either make my headache pain lesser and/or make it go away faster, or am I simply wasting a pill by doing so?
I should note that I do not currently have a headache. I would also never take more than three aspirin regardless of how much headache pain I had. I would seek medical attention if the aspirin did not help. The question is based on curiosity. I've seen other people take three aspirin and always wondered if it would make any difference to do so.

1. The third pill would probably help. I don't take aspirin but I when I take Ibuprofen I take 3 or 4 depending on the pain and I think the dosage on the bottle is 1 or 2. 2 doesn't really do much for me.2. No it thins your blood and can be dangerous if taken incorrectly. It can also cause stomach to bleed and bring on rash hives and many other things. Tylenol extra strength 2 capsules every 6 hours. Get some rest drink plenty of fluids.

4. it depends how old you are and what kind of medical conditions you may have. Some people cant even take ASA. I personally think taking a 3rd or more is a waste. You may want to add another type of medication if you feel this headache is severe. Like tylenol or maybe a narcotic.
5. I think it does, but I try not to do it. You eventually build a tolerance and have to take more and more. I just switch around. Like if I've been taking Advil for a while it will stop working so I'll stop taking it. Although, for everyone out there, I have found the absolute, most amazing over the counter headache medicine is Execedrin Migrain. It works wonders!!

If it is acute pl search a painful point 3-6 mm behind your thumb nail and press it, H/A will disappear within 30 seconds.

7. Oh brother! Some of these answers. Actually, taking more than 1,000ml does NOT help. In fact in some cases it can cause a reverse effect and not help the headache at all. Stick with the recommended dosage. It has been determined by professionals who know what they are doing.
