Can a sinus headache cause pain in the top of your head?
I've had a terrible headache for about a month now and nothing I have tried has relieved that pressure with all the different times of pain relievers I could think of and nothing has worked. I got a cat scan and one of my sinuses is "thick" but could sinuses cause pain in the top of your head and along the hairline?

1. It's possible. Pain can be and is referred to various parts of the body by sources not always thought to be directly associated with that part of the body. For example, upper back tension can refer issues to the neck which can refer pain to the scalp. Sciatic nerve inflammation can refer pain to the buttocks and leg. If pain relievers aren't working, try ice therapy and perhaps a nice, relaxing massage by a competent practitioner. And you might try a sterile saline rinse for your sinuses such as with a Neilmed or netipot. Good Luck!
2. Yes and no. Headaches actually cause the sinus problems. Headaches are caused by tight neck muscles. The muscles go to the top of your head where they connect to muscles going around your head. When the neck muscles get tight they pull the head muscles into pain and that's your headache. The pain at the top of your head is from the neck muscles that go there. When the neck muscles are tight they compress the blood vessels and that backs up blood in your head and the first place blood goes is to the sinuses to fill them to give you that problem. So while the two are interconnected, it's more correct to say the tight neck muscles caused the sinus problem for the neck muscles have to be tight to cause the rest to happen. To get rid of those pains you have to free up your neck muscles and here's how to free them up:
Neck
Put your hands alongside your head so your thumbs are on the front of the muscle under your ear and your fingers are on the back of the muscle behind your neck. Squeeze your thumb and fingers together and hold. Relax your body. After about 30 to 45 seconds, when you don’t feel the muscles releasing any longer, slowly lower your head as far as you can, release the pressure but hold your neck lowered for another 30 seconds.
For best results relax your body first by taking a deep breath and exhaling then remain this relaxed.
