Which medication is more effective in treating fibromyalgia, Cymbalta or Lyrica?
Yes, the side effects of both are daunting!

1. I see a Pain Management doctor on a monthly basis, and he has me taking Cymbalta during the day and Lyrica at night. I had fibromyalgia so bad I had to go on disability. I would not say I am 100% but much better than a year ago. I did not seem to many negative side effects to start with and nothing now.
I must admit I also take pain pills several times a day. Also the other thing that has worked wonders is swimming and the hot tub... God Bless ReggieR
2. ummmmmmm
errrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
ahhhhhhhhhhh
I surrender - which one is correct?
3. If I had to choose, I would say Savella. It has the least side effects.
There is no one best, it is different for everybody.
And often it is a combo of an SSRI/antidepressant like Cymbalta or Savella AND an anti seizure like Lyrica, Neurontin, Keppra
4. Sometimes how the medication affects a person depends on the person. Might have to be a trial basis at first to see which one works best...
5. Hey Sue,
The side effects of both medicines are such a drawback. Have you considered treating your Fibromyalgia holistically with stretching, exercise and diet? I have had Fibromyalgia for over 15 years and have gone up and down pain wise but I've always managed quite well. If you are certain you want to take medication, what about talking to your doctor about low dose anti-depressants? They have less side effects and are considered effective. There are so many options out there, it might be worth taking a look?
Good Luck!
