I woke up this morning with the classic symptoms of Fibromyalgia, fever of 99.6, and slightly swollen throat?

I got muscle pain everywhere, and my joints are even worse and I'm only 20. My symptoms match up with Fibromyalgia except Fibromyalgia is a long-term condition and I had just suddenly woke up with it along with a fever and a slightly swollen throat.

1. There is a virus going around with those exact symptoms-extreme muscle aches, fever spikes, and a sore swollen feeling throat. It resolves in about 2-2.5 days. You do not wake up suddenly with fibromyalgia.

2. where did you hear that...

swollen throat is NOT a symptom of FMS

Fever is generally not a symptom either..

sounds like a cold or the flu, maybe MONO

FMS is highly overdiagnosed--many symptoms attributed to it are actually signs of something else

3. You don't wake up with Fibromyalgia.

It sounds like you've got some sort of viral infection, possibly the flu. You will not be diagnosed with Fibromyalgia, it's a chronic condition.

Rest and drink plenty of water. You do not have Fibromyalgia.

....

4. You're confused Charles. Fibromyalgia is a chronic pain condition that is not associated with a fever. You have the flu. For more information, check out my website but it doesn't sound like Fibro. Take some advil, drink lots of fluid and call it a day. If your symptoms get worse, call your doctor.
feel better!

5. Fibromyalgia is a chronic pain condition. Chronic defined as longer term, more than 3 months and usually is with degenerative joint disease and other neurological disorders. People living with FM can feel like they have the flu every day.
