1. This back pain is serious and you should go see a doctor as soon as possible.
2. Back pain can be caused by many different reasons such as inflammation of the muscles, damage to the discs of the spinal column or nerve damage. As the back is so important in allowing everyday movement and can cause debilitating pain you should see a doctor as soon as possible, they will often order CT or MRI scans to determine any significant issues. Please don't take any medications that have not been prescribed to you. If you are desperate for some pain relief I would suggest a cream applied topically to the irritated area such as Voltaren Emulgel or a heat pack.
3. Hi,
Back pain occurs mostly when we are tired, have poor posture, and injured. If it occurs with heartburn or fever, I think you should seek for a medical advise.
4. Chubba,
You need to get checked out by a good chiropractor. I know because my back pain started when I was 12. I had sharp, stabbing pain that got worse with sneezing, bending or certain movements. Your spinal vertebrae are misplaced pinching nerves and causing the discs (jelly filled cushions in between the 24 vertebrae) to bulge or herniate. A good chiropractor will not just 'crack your back' but will fix the underlying problem. What ever you do don't ignore these warning signs or it can get worse. Right now you can fix it if you make some effort.
In the meantime get educated on how your spine works and find out some things you can do at home. Get this free book => http://www.losethebackpain.com/aff/index.php?p=tande71&w=7DayCure

I wish you well! Dr Tim
5. Chubba if your back pain is in the center could mean you have a slipped disc, Valsalva maneuver is an orthopedic test which if you cough sneeze or bear down worsens the pain increase the evidence of a back pain due to slipped disc or disc herniation.
Is it serious? If you continue to ignore it, you may need a surgery. In the early stages, see your chiropractor to get it fixed and usually resolves in 6 visits or so.
