Where can I file a civil case against a store that injured me & my diagnosis is knee pain, ankle sprain, etc?

Where should I file my civil injury case in circuit court or U. S. District Court, against a store that caused me injury while I was in their store. I went to the hospital and I was diagnosis as hip pain, knee pain, ankle sprain due a store that caused me injury?
I filed a report with the store manager and I have a claim number.

1. a circuit court is for small crimes, so probably there. if you were not careful then you won't win, if the store/service was careless and you tripped then you might win.

2. State court. Federal courts deal with federal laws.

3. You would file that in the Circuit Court. You need an attorney to represent you. Don't even think about trying to win this alone.

4. If the store does business in your state, then they are listed as a foreign corporation/llc with the Department of State in your state. You would find the entity listing and with that information there is a listing of who or where accepts legal process for that company. You would then send your summons to that address, which will be in the state of the branch store location.

5. Filing in State v. Federal is dependent upon a lot of facts you haven't provided us with, but the likely answer is in Circuit Court in the county the injury occurred in, but it depends on a number of factors.

You should not be handling this case on your own however, you really should speak to a lawyer. The last thing you want to do is make a procedural mistake that results in a dismissed claim where you get nothing. Personal Injury lawyers work on contingency, so you should be able to hire one with no money up front, and they only collect a percentage of your settlement or jury award.
