I have a persistent knee pain after running. What could be causing it?

I love to run. Over the past few weeks, after running I get a pain on the side of my left knee. It hurts most during the motion of extending or bending the knee and in certain positions. The pain subsides after a day or two. There is no swelling. Any clues as to what the problem might be?

I always stretch before and after running and have tried running with a knee brace - neither seem to help. After the last run, I've decided to stop running for at least a month to let the injury heal.

1. I think you should ask a doctor about it to see what they think the peoblem is and maybe that will help, it also depends how long you run each day and if you run every day but it may be best to ask a doctor ^^

2. Well, knee is a complex joint with many ligaments. U might have injured one of your ligaments, doesn't seem that its too serious as u can still bare weight and run and there is no swelling... u can check by standing on your left foot alone if it produces severe pain...

However minor injury your knee might be facing, it will not heel if it gets irritated again and again (u running), therefore I suggest u can apply some capsaicin ointment and stop running for atleast 3 weeks. and after that start running little distances at first gradually increasing the distance till u can comfortably run like a horse again.

good luck.

3. you should see a docter might be a disjointed knee..!
