what are some good ways to get rid of knee pain form running?
I have been running for about a year now, but i just recently joined my highschool cross country team. Does anybody know any ways to get rid of knee pain?

1. icey hott
put ice packs on your knees
2. put heat pads on it in the mornings, wear a knee brace while running (just a simple one) then ice after you run. i had the same problem and that's what my trainer did for me
3. wear knee braces when you run
4. The only things that I have found that work are to stop running and to start drinking beer. Of course, wait until you're 21 until you do the second thing.
5. Take two of these @@, and see your doctor, please.<}:-})
6. the better way is ice!
or freezing water! it would take the pain off! :D
7. First, see an orthopedist. They can see if you have some sort of injury to a tendon or the meniscus of your knee. If there is no actual injury, then you should definitely be fitted for some new shoes. Go to your local running shop and let the do an analysis. Remember that you are only supposed to put about 600 miles on a pair of shoes before getting new ones. The foam in all running shoes slowly breaks down and can cause injury. If both of those fail, a good quality knee brace is an option, but ask your doctor about it before running out and purchasing one.
8. check with your school's trainer first since its free.
he will probably tell you if you should waste your time/money on a doctor or specialists.
also, when you run, lift your knees, coaches always told me this and i never listened because i was always too tired too.
and one day i couldnt stand my knee pain so i was just getting by my usual morning run, and this old guy yelled from across the street to lift my knees, and so for the next couple of days i started to re-teach myself how to run but by lifting my knees higher up, and it helped GREATLY with the pains.
and i asked my coach today about my knees clicking, which apparently isnt a good thing, lol, and he told me that i should strengthen the muscles above my knees by going on machines such as those mechanical bikes, so you should try that too.
