How to avoid knee pain when i am running?

I recently went to the doctor for my knee, bending it kills! The doc said I just twisted it and said to give it time. its starting to feel better, but bending still hurts. Is it ok for me to run without bending it? They took x-rays and nothing was damaged. Is there anything i can do to help ease pain when i run? btw I am 15.
Will I injure it further by running?

1. tape it up or buy a brace. when you done running ice it, also take some IB Profen. it will help with the pain and inflammation.

2. ICE: Ice, Compress, Elevate
You need to give it time to heal, it might be anything but likely ligaments or tendons and they unfortunately take their time to heal. I would wait a week without even thinking of using your legs for sports.
Go to the gym and train core/upper body.
