What can I do about my knee pain, caused by running?

I started running about 3 or 4 months ago but I'm having a hard time moving forward with my distance/time and speed because of knee pain caused by my running. I'm in my twenties and slim so age and weight are not causing or contributing to the pain. I've been told to use ice and take anti-inflammatorys. Is there anything else I can do? Will the pain go away eventually?

1. I buy some Glucosamine which lubricates joints and stuff. It helps me with my knee, when training in martial arts classes. The stuff is not a drug, and it all natural, you can try looking it up on google for more info, or just go to Wal mart pharmacy section, and ask the pharmacist like I did. :D
