1. I have found that a Knee Wheat Bag helps to reduce knee pain after running. Wheat bags are ideal for reducing swelling or for relief from a sports injury. Wheat bags can be heated up in a microwave or frozen and used as a cold compress. Heat pads are a natural way of soothing aches and pains, rheumatism, arthritis, bruising, sports injuries, stress & tension.
The overall qualities of warmth and heat have long been associated with comfort and relaxation, heat therapy goes a step further and can provide both pain relief and healing benefits for many types of muscle pain. Heat is a great method of providing immediate relief from sore, stiff and tight muscles and joints.
Heat application is used to lessen pain, relieve muscle spasms, decrease joint stiffness, increase blood flow, and accelerate the inflammatory process. These effects are the result of several physiological responses to heat.
Heat application works by adding energy locally, increasing the metabolism of all types of cells. The local application of heat increases blood flow by causing the blood vessels to dilate. Heat reduces muscle spasm by reducing tension in muscle trigger points, and it increases the ability of the muscle tendon unit to relax and stretch.
Using a wheat bag or heat pad for heat therapy has been shown to be an effective method for reducing muscle pain and reducing muscle and joint stiffness.
