Can chocolate cause a migraine headache?

It seems like I've been getting bad headaches when I eat chocolate, which I love. It says that most people aren't allergic to chocolate. Caffeine doesn't bother me at all. I keep trying to figure out what is setting these headaches off and it seems that chocolate in the evening causes me to wake up with a bad headache. Anyone ever hear of this?

1. yes chocolate and caffeine does trigger migraine. I get them and therefore i had to stop eating chocolate...go check urself out at the doctor. good luck.

2. Yes it can. Migrains are usually brought about by a trigger that is different for different people. Chococlate contains a chemical substance called tyramine which you might be sensitive to - this is also found in cheeses and red wine. So best to stay away from these if you can.

3. YES - chocolate is one of the main culprits that cause migraines. It isn't just the caffeine. Red wines are another contributor. Stay away from them if you want to avoid migraines!

4. Perhaps the chocolate you eat contains sulphites. I'm not sure how, but alot of people are sensitive or allergic to this additive. Alot of wine has it. I get migraines, and I'm lucky since i am a chocoholic I can still eat it, but sulphites can cause wicked headaches. Check the packaging.
Do a search 'chocolate migraines' see what you come up with.

5. Absolutely yes...........and one of the causes for Migraine headaches.

6. No one can tell which thing will cause what sort of allurgy to whom.
You are allurgic to chocolate. It is increasing your liver fire i think and causing H/A. Leave it pl.
There is no medicine for H/A OR MIGRAINE. Not only these but for almost all painful diseases. Hence they become chronic.
Acidity, excessive wind, cold , heat, sour food and sinusitis, constipation, intestinal inflammation;
Blockage in the flow of Vital Energy are their causes. None of them can be treated with medicine. Our 100% success in treating migraine &H/A confirms it.
Acupuncture is the best treatment. I can treat it with naturopathy and YOG, but how can you manage pl see.
Avoid late sleeping if possible;spicy, sour, stale bakery foods and alcohole.
Sweet foods, sweet fruits, milk, rice and good sleep will help you.
But you try one herbal remedy- two drops of drumstick leaves' juice in opposite nostril if one side pains and both nostrils if full H/A will give you rescue. Betel leaf helps but it isvery strong.
If it is acute pl search a painful point 3-6 mm behind your thumb nail and press it, H/A will disappear within 30 seconds.
