when you do you think a headache or migraine is severe enough to go to the emergency room?
I'm at work and I started to get a headache which I'm prone to, but it's turning into a bad migraine and it's to the point where there's a spot on my scalp that's sensitive to touch. And no.. I have not fallen or hit my head. Do you think I should just lay down and continue to see what happens or should I go to the emergency room?

1. I would lie down and see how you feel. Migraines can be excruciating and sometimes cause me black dots in front of my eyes and throbbing so bad, I have to lie down. Maybe your boss could send you home for the day. I hope you feel better.
2. if it is different then normal you should go right away
3. well anytime you are vomiting or blacking out or when you cant take the pain anymore they are sypethetic and do what they can to help
4. these will help

5. When I get a migraine, I have a co-worker or friend take me home (I can't drive because of the "halos") take two excedrine migraines and put a blanket over my head (block out light) and make sure all is quiet. If I start throwing up constantly, then its time for an ER and a shot in the butt
6. Try taking two ice packs, place one on your forehead and the other at the base of your skull in the back where your head and neck meet. Be sure and place some cloth (wash cloth..ect) between your skin and the ice packs. This works for many of us with migraines. It can shorten the length and severity of a migraine. Its non-invasive and no meds involved.
7. i suffer from migraine headaches. I often have a "sore" spot on my head. I have never went to the hospital for a migraine, but I am stubborn. I think that if you start blacking out or have intense pain that lasts for more than like one hour, I would definetly go. In fact, if you have and doubts about it, you should go. Better safe than sorry, because it might not be a migraine at all.
8. Another thing that worked for me was a hot bath, as hot as I could take it. I'd fall asleep and when I woke up the migraine was usually gone. This and the icepack work by making the blood go to your extremities; it's too much blood in constricted head blood vessels that causes the pain. My migraines were partly caused by certain foods. See if you notice a pattern and can try to eliminate the cause. I no longer have them but I think there are good meds available now. Good luck, they are pure hell!
9. i would go to the emergency room.....could be a tumor if there is a sensitive spot on your head...this is nothing to play with my dear.....?
