What is the best way to get rid of a severe migraine headache?
I have been in agony for several days : ( I have to wear sunglasses inside the house because it hurts to look at light.(wearing them now while on the computer) I have pretty much been in bed with ice packs on my eyes/face. I have used Firocet which usually works but has not this time.

1. I don't know how old you are, but I can tell you what gave my wife migraines when she was younger. I was reading something somwhere, don't remember, that low hormones will give you migraines. So I sent her to the Doctors for a Pap Smear, and that's when you can also check hormone levels, and well hers was low. They put her on medicines to increase them and she has never had one since. One time she was having bad headaches, not so much like migraines, but bad. I sent her to the Doctors to have her birth control pills changed, and that stopped those headaches. Another time she was having headaches when she quit drinking so much Coke Pop, then stopped all together. She was sick for a couple of days with a bad headache, I bought her a can of Coke Cola, and the minute she drank it the headache went away. Caffiene will definitely give you bad headaches if you drink a lot or eat a lot, then suddenly stop. I hope your headaches go away soon young lady, wish I could tell you more, but these things were giving my wife hers.
2. Ouch, as a fellow migraineur I feel your pain!I know exactly how bad the light sensitivity and pain can get with the migraines...I have been there too many times. The thing about fioricet is that over time your body can become immune to its effects, and it can actually cause re-bound headaches in some ppl. I don't have any suggestion off hand (I use the same remedies you've already listed) but you can look up some really helpful information on the following website dedicated to migraineurs: http://www.migraines.org
Hope this helps a bit and that you get relief soon!
3. If it's been several days and the Fiorcet didn't work this time, I'd call the doctor. Seriously!
4. I've had history with migranes as well, sorry to hear! Don't guess exederin migrane helps at all huh? When mine are the worse I can't handle light or noise either, not very often luckily. Good Luck, know it isn't fun!
