I have had a headache in the back of my head for about a week. Aall the symptoms point to a tension headache?

I have had a headache in the back of my head for about a week. It goes from the back of the head around the whole head and feels like a tight band around my head. It is continuous. It feels like a tension headache but can they last this long? I don't feel tense.

Any response will be greatly appreciated.

1. You have tight neck muscles causing that pain. The neck muscles go to the top of your head so any pain in the back of your head is from them. When tight the muscles pull on other muscles that go around the head. When they go into pain you have your headache. To get rid of the pains you have to free up your neck muscles and here's how to do that:
Neck
Put your hands alongside your head so your thumbs are on the front of the muscle under your ear and your fingers are on the back of the muscle behind your neck. Squeeze your thumb and fingers together and hold. Relax your body. When your fingers and thumb touch, about two minutes, slowly lower your head as far as you can, release the pressure but hold your neck lowered for another 30 seconds.
For best results relax your body first by taking a deep breath and exhaling then remain this relaxed.

2. I have been having the same issue for a few weeks. I would highly suggest going to a massage therapist and getting them to give you a tension relieving massage. I just came from one and I feel so much better and over all refreshed.

Tension headaches don't only come from being tense which seems weird because of their name. I am plagued with tension headaches forever but I have coping mechanisms.

Another good thing to do is make sure you stretch your neck. A lot of people store tension in their neck and shoulders
