Why do you get a headache in the back of your head when playing video games for too long?

Public Comments

1. It's probably eye strain. Don't play video games for so long - you're ruining your eyesight.

You should get up and do something away from the screen for ten minutes every hour.

2. I figured this out when I was a kid that loved to play Atari... (yeah, that tells you I'm old)... I used to play on it for hours and it would hurt the back of my head and neck.. I would sit there on the floor for hours and play those games... Then one day I sat in a chair and my neck hurt less... Then I got the bright idea of putting the tv on the floor and sitting on the floor to play it... My neck and back of my head didn't hurt at all like it use to... So the conclusion I came up with is it's not natural to sit with your head tilted back to look up towards the t.v. . Even tilting your head just a little bit makes it hurt.. So if you want to stop most of the pain, try being higher than the tv you're watching, it's more natural to have your head tilted down, than to have it tilted up... That's my own opinion, but it sure helped me... :)

3. Most likely you are sitting in one positon for too long. Anytime you sit within a position for too long, you are placing undo pressure upon a nerve within your body. MOVE AROUND, CHANGE POSITIONS, or decrease the amount of playtime sugnificanly for improved results.

4. O.K....for two reasons.

1. Eyestrain, which may stress one out, resulting in tension in the neck and shoulders.

2. Sitting for long periods of time commonly cause sacro-iliac strain. Then, structurally and neurologically, the upper part of the spine....will generally go into spasm, especially C1 and C2, the atlas and axis vertebral levels. No lie do I.

Suggest you get up every thrity minutes to stretch (and maybe do a chunk of homework!). ; )
