1. i say get some sweets, just notchocolate, something like honey, it makes urtongue feel good and tkes ur mind off the headaches
2. I actually found excedrin migraine to be pretty useful for most of my various aches. it combines 3 active ingredients, aspirin (i think), acetaminophen (i think? or ibuprofen) and caffeine. the caffeine having something to do with minimizing the effects of stress on a body (i also think??). either way, that works ok. ive known people to get temporary week prescriptions for migraines of vicoden from the hospital.
3. I did help a guy in Canada with his cluster headaches to get rid of them It took about three weeks for him to finally get rid of his but after suffering from violent outbursts that he couldn't control during that time the three weeks was a cake walk. He now is in his own business because he could do what he need to without worrying about having his days turned upside down. Because headaches come from the neck muscles and the clusters seemed to have so much impact by back muscles those were the two places we worked on to get rid of them. If you have questions feel free to drop a line and I'll do my best to answer and help along the way. Here's the two releases he did for the muscles that needed to be freed up, which he started doing them 3 times a day:
Neck
Put your hands alongside your head so your thumbs are on the front of the muscle under your ear and your fingers are on the back of the muscle behind your neck. Squeeze your thumb and fingers together and hold. Relax your body. When your fingers and thumb touch, about two minutes, slowly lower your head as far as you can, release the pressure but hold your neck lowered for another 30 seconds.
Back:
(do from a sitting position)
Place your left hand on your left leg next to your body. Place your right hand over your left shoulder, fingers over the back and the palm in the front and firmly pull down on them and hold. After 30 seconds slowly lower your body forward and to the outside of your left leg, keeping your left arm fairly straight as you do. When you reach your lap remain there for another 10 seconds, release the pressure but rest there for another 30 seconds. Then reverse your hand positions and do your right side. For both- for best results relax your body first by taking a deep breath and exhaling then remain this relaxed.
4. Nothing is going to work like prescription meds.I've had migraines since age twelve. I take Midrin to take the edge off. Stay away from the other stuff. Too many serious side effects.Check yourself for dietary triggers or stress.Yoga stretching will help with the cluster headaches.Migraines will diminish in frequency and intensity with menopause.Don't let some Doc tell you you're neurotic. It the standard answer for anything they can't figure out.
5. Put your feet in the warmest water you can tolerate. This should briefly stop the pounding in your head.
There are acupressure point in your hands. Find where your index finger and thumb bones meet in the the fleshy part between the two. Using your index finger and thumb on your opposite hand, move slightly forward off the bones and into the fleshy part. Apply strong pressure there and that should relieve the pain a bit....squeeze your left hand for pain in the left side of your head and your right hand for the right.
6. All-natural treatment and remedies that have worked for me....
1.) Make an appointment with a Chiropractor for a check-up and/or adjustment. A body that is out of balance or alignment can be the root cause of headaches and migraines.
2.) Add a supplement to your daily routine that targets migraines, helping to control and prevent them from occurring. This supplement is called "Migrelief."
Good luck....
7. A deficiency in folic acid, vitamin B12, and/or iron can cause headaches! also, drink ALOT of water.
8. I suffer from both Cluster and Migraine but mostly Cluster head aches on a regular basis. I have them about 3-5 times a week during the change in seasons and sometimes more or less. I welcome migraines over my cluster headaches any time. What i have found that works for me is as fallows:
1. Quit any tobacco use. I deffinitly noticed a difference.
2. I take Verapomil which i believe tones down accurences when i remeber to take it on the regular.
3. Pure oxygen seems to help a lot when i can use it right at the start of a cluster but not all the time.
4. I try to stay away from foods with nitrates in them like bacon hotdogs or anything smoked
5. The only sure thing that i have found to help with 5-15 minutes is Imatrex injection. It is really expensive without insurance even the generic. I do not use the little dose pen they give you to inject it because there is enough medicine in one shot for 2-3 headaches. I just inject it myself and get at least double the doses out of a prescription. It is said that Imitrex can cause rebound headaches and i think there is SOME truth to this but if it gets rid of my cluster i dont care.
When i started getting them i was mis diagnosed with sinus infections countless times before i flipped out. I was 25 when i started to get them and i am 29 now. and i am male. They say that women very rarely ever get clusters if at all.
