Is the homeopathic treatment of fibromyalgia better than drugs?

According to the latest cross-over study, homeopathy is better rated.

Homeopathic remedies are manufactured using elements from the plant, animal and mineral kingdoms, "poison" is not part of the picture. It stimulates the body to heal itself. |Naturopathy is not "better", and will not remove the underlying cause.
Only homeopathy can do that.

Public Comments

1. There is a difference between homeopathic treatment and naturopathic treatment. Homeopathy administers a minute amount of poison in order for the body to develop strength against it. As Fibromyalgia is not due to poison, rather a drop in estrogen levels in women resulting in poor uptake of calcium and magnesium, a naturopathic approach is better.

Medical doctors usually prescribe anti-depressants and HRT which are useful for treating the SYMPTOMS only.

A balance approach would be: 14 treatments of Ionic cleanse (all joints are affected by fibromyalgia because there are harmful deposits in the joints. Only this type of cleans can properly remove the deposits which cause the pain), and 6 treatments of Bowen (for balance due to estrogen drop) and at least 1500 mgs of cal/mag. Walk in the sunshine for Vitamin D.

Dring plenty of water (8 glasses a day) with lemon juice.

Take apple cider vinegar: it's the cure for what ail's ye.

2. It is good that you accept that science per se isn't against homeopathy, and that you acknowledge that studies that find positive effect of homeopathy get published in journals written for members of the conventional medicine community. What you should do now is to read this systematic review of homeopathy as treatment of fibromyalgia: http://www.springerlink.com/content/grw090753637902v/fulltext.pdf Both the Fisher and Bell studies are included. Analysis of Fischer's data doesn't support his conclusion, but the findings of Bell are more interesting. In fact all we need is independent replication studies confirming her findings. The Bell study is enough to create an interest in funding such a study. But where are those studies??. Six years is a very long time to wait. This could indicate that publication bias is at play.

3. study results ae skewed all the time.....there is a place for homeopathy, but there is no real substantiated evidence that it helps at all

FMS is NOT due to a drop in estrogen levels--that may cause pain and fatigue--but not FMS

FMS is causedby a disorder of the neurosystem

4. no doubt. better yet, correct the cause by correcting the nerve interference to the thyroid.

5. Don't be silly, homeopathy is water.

I suggest you read this lengthy SBM article that deals with this Dana Ullman article. It concludes with:

"Still, there are a lot of people who still believe in magic. Because RCTs are complicated and there are many conditions and diseases that are difficult to diagnose and treat, it will always be possible for people like Dana Ullman to use science-y-sounding language and cherry-picked studies to make it sound as though homeopathy is anything more than witchcraft (choice of words intentional).

And it will be possible for wretched hives of scum and quackery like HuffPo to give people like Ullman a platform."

6. Some people swear by it and others don't. Fibromyalgia may have a lot of similar symptoms between patients, but it's a highly individual experience.
