Ab exercises for people with back pain?

I've recently lost some weight and want to get back into shape. I've got back pain and find crunches and sit ups to be painful. Are there any exercises that wont irritate my back as much, but still allow me to make my abs visible again? I've got alot of time to work out, and have fixed my diet aswell. Juist looking for some exercises that aren't going to further damage my back.

1. Planks, both static and dynamic, will work your entire core. You can also do hanging leg raises and obliques.

2. Since you have back pain, you should probably go to a chiropractor. Then he will be able to fix that, and you could do your normal workout. You could just try heating pads on your back though. see if that helps.

3. Using a recumbent exercise bike will not stress your back too much, but still exercise your stomach muscles. The stronger your stomach muscles become, the less back pain you will probably have. Certain yoga positions may also be helpful to you - they will stretch and strengthen your back and tone your stomach muscles.
