What type of exercises can I do to reduce back pain?

I usually get back pain when I stand up for a while. What type of exercises can I do to reduce this pain?

Thanks.
I'm an 18 year old male, if it matters.

1. Lay on your back and pull your knees to your chin.

Sit in a chair, put your hands behind your head and dip your head between your knees.

2. I would not attempt any kind of exercise until you have had a medical assessment from your GP. You could make things worse.

3. Brian,
You say that you usually get back pain when you stand up for awhile, how long is that usually? Do you get back pain at other times outside of standing? You need to strengthen you gluts, you abs and your legs. You can strengthen your gluts with 2 simple exercises, the bridge and the clam. The bridge can be done when you are lying on your back with both knees and your feet on the floor. Tighten your stomach, squeeze you butt and lift your butt into the air. Lower a little and lift back up again. Repeat 15 times and try to do three sets of this. The clam is where you lay on a side, knees bent at a 45 degree angle and you externally rotate your leg up. You don't lift your ankles up only the knee lifts up, looking like a clam shell opening. Again try and do 3 sets of 15.
Another important thing to do to help you to be able to stand for a long period of time is to stretch your legs. While standing try and stretch you hamstrings, calves and quads. I hope this helps.
