Back pain during ab exercises?
Hi,
Whenever I do any ab exercises, particularly crunches, I feel pain in my lower back which sometimes leads me to stopping the exercise.
Why is this?
Is it because my core muscles are not strong enough.

I'm 18 this year, and I've started training dance professionally last year which is 17 years old. So it's considered that I am very old to start.
Anyhow, I had the problems as you have. Do you workout on an exercise mat or just on the floor? Those thick foamy exercise mats protects your back + lower back from pain. It is better than doing it on the floor.
Also, it may be the way you do crunches. Do you drop down hard on your back when you do your crunches? It's best and more effective to do crunches slowly and take your time. Also, it may be good to stretch out your back before doing crunches.
Keep exercising! Don't give up.

2. I have the same problom. I asked my freinds and they all said it happens to them to, so i see it as normal since we all have it. I just keep doing it but have to take breaks in between.
