37 weeks pregnant and experiencing lower back pain with diarrhea. Could this be the start of labor?

I've had severe diarrhea and terrible lower back pain all morning. It's a very consistent dull pain. I am 37 weeks. Could this be the start of labor?

1. Sounds like it! Diarrhea is very common right before or at the start of labor because your body naturally kind of cleans itself out to allow the baby to pass through more easily. Lower back pain is also very common, depending on how the baby is lying. Just be sure to pay attention to contractions that get consistently stronger and closer together, and of course if your water breaks call your doc or go in right away. Good luck!

2. Consistent and dull does not describe labor pain. Labor pain will be unique contracting on and off pain. Not really so much a pain as it is an immense pressure. It could be back labor. More than likely, I'd say your back is just sore because your belly is so large. Diarrhea is a sign that labor is coming soon though because your body is trying to "void" itself of waste to prepare to give birth.

3. Possible, just keep an eye on your signs..

4. Yes it may be.
You might want to relax and maybe call your doctor and get his opinion

5. sounds alot like it! give it some time and see what happens. good luck.

6. Quite possibly...the diarrhea is cleaning you out...be wary of dehydration thought which happens quickly with diarrhea. Try drinking water and light soup broth. The back pain could be a result of diarrhea. Hang in there. You are getting closer and closer....some pelvic tilts and walking may help hasten things if you can get away from the bathroom Good luck! :)
