1. my brother gets migraines, i heard protein could help

2. It may be a question of eliminating foods, not taking foods. If you figure out what TRIGGERS the migraine to begin with, you won't get them so much and you won't have the problem.

Start a food diary. Many additives, preservatives and even some 'natural' foods cause migraines. For example: MSG, sulfites, sulphates, phosphates, nitrates, artificial sweeteners, high fructose corn syrup, aged cheese, pickles, vinegar, oranges, chocolate (for some), and so on.

Up your water intake. I have no 'thirst' trigger for some reason. I used to drink all of 8-12 ounces of fluid per day! Once I started forcing myself to drink water (minimum of 32 ounces per day), my migraines dropped dramatically.

Stay 'regular'. I noticed that due to my not drinking water, I was often constipated. Which tended to correspond to my migraines as well. Along with the water, I started a high fiber diet. I'm now MUCH more regular - and again, have way fewer migraines.

Have you had your sinuses checked? Sinus headaches CAN escalate into migraines, as well. And are you trying to treat them with something like Excedrin VERY early? When I wake, if I have that 'niggling' pain, I take an Excedrin immediately and that often heads it off.

Stay away from strong PAIN meds. They VERY often have a 'rebound' effect - and your 'migraine' may actually be a 'rebound' headache from the pain pills - in other words, you've become addicted to them, even if it is only one a day. Been there; off of that! Try to get on a good migraine killer, like imitrex, Axert, Maxalt or such. For me, 1 Axert and 2 hours later, I'm pain free.
