Knee pain diagnosis help?

Okay so for a couple months now I have had severe knee pain. The pain is located at the top of my knee cap and the pain gets increasingly worse as I try to straighten my leg. I can not straighten my leg against the force of gravity while laying down. Any ideas what my problem is?
