I have been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia & Lymphedema and am wondering if there is anyone else out there who?

Has either of these and what your coping mechanisms are be it through medication, support groups (which I actually loathe) , treatment options and or dietary aids that enhance the manageability of these , either one mind you.

Thanks in Advance

1. This should be in a different section; you'll get better answers.
Try Health>>Diseases and conditions.

2. my friend has it, she is taking meds & going to the groups, which she said makes it worse.in the groups she hears only negative. Good luck, I will pray for you

3. Sorry to hear that, i know my mother has fibomyelgea (sp?) and she uses some pain killers but by the sounds of it yours is much worse, she uses Vikotin and perkoset. I know there is an ad on tv for a specific medicine for that also but cant think of what it is called. hope i helped a little.
Good Luck.

4. I have fibro and found that taking potassium and magnesium tends to relax the muscles a tad bit.
moving although painful helps as well.
sleep is most important get ambien from a doctor and get some sleep.
the pain is always worse with lack of sleep.
drink lots of water to flush all of the toxins out of your body so they don't toxify your muscle tissues.
as for lymphedema my mother and sister both had it, losing weight got rid of ones problem and the other has her leg drained because she is very sick and can't lose the weight. plus diet can help that as well.
good luck in your quest and I hope you will be running by next year! kudos for not letting it get you down and depressed.

5. yes. initially i managed it with meds and acupuncture.
about 2 years later i got divorced, changed my life style and removed other certain "poison" people/things from my life. truth be told, it went away and hasnt bother me since.

6. the first thing you need to do is educate yourself-especially when it comes to fms-education is the only relaible 'treatment'

make sure you really have it--many docs hand out the diagnosis like candy---for normal pain due to lifestyle or form pain due to anotehr condition..they think that fms is a genral term for pain--but it is its own real specific condition

be sure there are real indications that you actually have fms in additon to lympedema--and that the symptoms can't be explained by lymphedema alone...

if you are treated for fms and you don't have it--you can make your helath worse with the medication side efffects
