Can anyone suggest a cheap doctor who can test for Bipolar and Fibromyalgia. In Fayetteville Arkansas?

I am trying to find a CHEAP DOCTOR who don't charge a fortune. We have just found out 3 of my sisters and one brother all have Fibromyalgia and 8 of 15 nieces and nephews and 2 aunt have been tested and are all being treated for Heredtary Bipolar. I live about 15 miles from Fayetteville Arkansas.

1. You did not mention if you are having any symptoms or not.

Do you really want a CHEAP doctor? All doctors basically charge the same amount for an office call and a physical anyway.

The diagnosis of fibro dosnt help much. There is really nothing they can do for it. I was told to get plenty of cardio exercise. It is actually a sleep disorder, that you do not repair muscles while you sleep because you do not enter the deepest stage of sleep.

2. Dang,
Okay, go to a clinic and tell them about your family history. You may be able to find a teaching hospital that deals with genetics that will treat ya'll for free.

Good luck.
Here's a link to a clinic in Fayetteville.

3. A specialist has to confirm you have fibromyalgia,a rheumatologist, and they are hard to see even WITH insurance. It took a year and a half to get into 1 and that's only because my Dr. called and asked her directly and that bypasses what the insurance says,if they agree to see you. There is only 2 medicines out there for fibromyalgia Lyrica and I can't think of the other one right now, I tried the lyrica and it didn't do a thing for me! Having fibromyalgia makes you depressed yes because you are always tired and in pain, they say to avoid certain foods to relieve symptoms and rest and don't do too much at a time.I really don't think there's anything right now that can be done about it,sorry

4. I am highly doubtful taht they all have fibro--itis hgihly overdiagnosed--

while it is true that it runs in family (like heart disease) itis not genetic like cystic fibrosis

many docs label any pain as fibro--even normal pain form lifestyle or pain from other conditions such as arthritis or depression----you need to research and confirm the fibor diagnosis is right--look for mistakes teh doc makes--that show he may not be accurate.....

know that fibro is a specific neuro condition...

contact United Way--the phone number might be 211....they can refer you to a place for psychiatric care

fibro is not specifically a sleep disorder--but that is one of the effects of it--it is a disorder of the neuro system=-including disordered (non restorative) sleep

there are actually THREE meds for fibro--plus off label uses of others--but all have limited success--they are Savella and Cymbalta which are SNRis and Lyrica which is antiseizure

5. Fibromyalgia and bipolar are often symptoms of Lyme disease. That is good news, because if they are from Lyme, the symptoms go away with proper Lyme disease treatment.

Symptoms do not go away with fibromyalgia or bipolar treatment--they are simply "managed" for a lifetime.

A large percentage of people with Lyme disease never noticed a tick bite or rash. Ticks are extremely small. Ticks carrying Lyme disease have been found in every state of the United States, and in many other parts of the world. Lyme disease is also passed from mother to child in the womb.

It sounds like those in your family may be genetically more susceptible to the Lyme bacteria, if that is, in fact the underlying problem. I'm not saying it definitely is, but you need to see an ILADS Lyme doctor to find out for sure.
