How do you handle someone who has fibromyalgia and addicted to pills?

I have no way of 100 % proving that she has overdosed in the past but I know she has. She was diagnosed with fibromyalgia in 1993 and its gone down hill from there. I feel that she is unstable and will take drastic measures. Is there a way to have her committed for her own good?

1. My wife was recently diagnosed with fibromyalgia, and she is in constant pain. I don't know if eventually she'll need stronger doses of the medicines she takes, but we have to be understanding, it's a very painful illness and it takes a lot of patience and empathy from all of us involved. It would be really good if she / you could find a support group. Good luck.

2. Unfortuantley you cannot have anyone commited against their will, believe me in the early 80s my husband was violent alcoholic and me and his family tried everyplace to have him commited, those days are over, the only thing you can do is try to talk to her and see if you can convince her to go into therapy. Where is she getting all the pills? If she does get a therapist maybe you can talk to the therapist and let her know about this problem, cause this might be something she wont tell the therapist goodluck

3. Take her to a detox clinic...AND ask her physician to give her some serotonin-retake-inhibitor instead.
