Does anyone have fibromyalgia? What have they done to improve your condition?

Have they put you on any meds or physical workout? Everyone I know has advice, and there are some really out-there suggestions. One person suggested the raw foods diet.

2. I've tried all kinds of medicine and diets and workouts. So far, nothing really has helped, except for the antidepressant that I take. It helps with the serotonin levels, so that makes a difference for me.

I have flareups sometimes and I don't usually tell anyone that I have it since most people don't believe it's real anyway. (I used to think it was a fake disease myself!)

3. I have had fibromyalgia for over 26 years. I hurted so bad for a long time. I heard of this medication used for depression on t.v. that helps with pain. I thought it would be worth a try and asked my doctor to put me on it.

OMGosh! I can't tell you the changed it made in my life. I can do things that I could never have done in the past. Although I am not totally painfree because I have Neuropathy I am not in as much pain as I used to be.

The medication is called Cymbalta. Now Cymbalta may not work for everyone but if it can help you it will be amazing...If you can give it a try!

Good Luck hun!

WooHoo! I get 2 points and you get a STAR!

4. I don't have fibromyalgia. However, I do know that the drug Lyrica was approved about a year ago for treatment of pain associated with fibromyalgia. On a related note, it is also the first drug ever approved by the FDA for the treatment of fibromyalgia.

5. I do not personally have fibro, but I do have a close family member who has fibro. He has tried medication and it helped somewhat, but the little benefit that he did get from it was out shadowed by the side effect of fatigue (as if he didn't have enough of that already). For him what has worked the best is acupuncture, acupressure, massages, organic cherry concentrate, goji berry juice and staying as active as possible. Throughout his experience with fibro he has found that if he "treats" himself to a lazy day where he lays around watching movies he def pays for it later (pain). He has also found that certain foods aggravate his fibro like dairy and meat. Hope this helps...good luck!

6. i tried just about everything from prescriptions to homeopathic..

The most promising treatments work on the neuro system-tramadol, cymbalta, lyrica type drugs-

other things that people claim are miracle cures are treatments for other conditions that mimic FMS-not REAL FMS

7. I am 16 and I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia earlier this year. The doctor put me on cymbalta...which I DO NOT recommend. Yes, it will wake you up. You won't be so exhausted all the time. But it gave me major headaches. I couldn't take it. The doctor took me off of it. So far I haven't been able to find any relief. The doctor recommends lots of physical activity. That helps more than any medication I have taken.

Try Lyrica, it may help more than anything.

8. I was diagnosed about 1 yr ago. I'm on Cymbalta. I was on Lyrica and it didn't help much but I've heard several people say they liked it. Lyrica made me gain weight which didn't help my condition. I also go to physical therapy 2 times a week and it helps a little. They teach me stretches, a few strengthening exercises and do massage. They also have a hydro-bed which is very nice. The main thing I have learned that helps is to get as much rest as you can. I have 2 kids so it's not easy but it's essential. I wear comfy shoes and try to stay somewhat active but don't push myself too hard or I'll flare. My rheumatologist suggested yoga which I plan to try. I hope some of this helps. I know it's frustrating but just know you aren't alone.
