What causes a headache in the forehead area?

I currently have a very painful headache right in my forehead area. The computer screen kills it, but I am dealing. What is the cause, and how do I fix it (other than medication)?

Public Comments

1. Its usually caused by putting strain on your eyes, if you use the computer alot and stay very close to it OR if you read in very dim light. Try to have bright light on your book while reading and keep away from the computer screen, if will decrease the strain on your eyes. For fixing it, you can try applying a cool wet towel, or just close your eyes and relax for a while.

2. The cause of headaches is pinched or tight muscles in the neck. To get rid of the headache you have to release those muscles and the headache will be gone. Here's how to release those muscles:
Neck
Put your hands alongside your head so your thumbs are on the front of the muscle under your ear and your fingers are on the back of the muscle behind your head. Squeeze your thumb and fingers together and hold. Relax your body. After 45 seconds, slowly lower your head as far as you can, release the pressure but hold your neck lowered for another 30 seconds.
With your neck in the lowered position, replace your thumbs in under the ears and your fingers behind your head but right next to your skull this time. Press your fingers and thumbs together again and hold. Relax your body while waiting. When the muscles have all released, slowly lift your head until it’s level again, release the pressure but hold your head like that for another 30 seconds.
Your neck muscles go all the way up to the top of your head. When they get tight they pull on other parts to make up for what is being pulled so if your right neck muscles are tight you are boing to have the pain on the right side, left neck, left side. Hope that helps.
