i have fibromyalgia triggered by an accident at work and I am in workers comp now. How would be a settlement?

I am wondering if someone has some experience in this matter, because from my understanding, this condition, fibromyalgia, is a tricky one. I have been diagnosed and apparently there is not a cure, just heavy medication (antidepressants, antiseizure, anxiety pills), that I have to be taking for the rest of my life (!!??). So, by any chance someone has any idea on how much a settlement would be with workers comp?

Public Comments

1. Hate to break this to you, but most heath insurance agencies view Fibromyalgia as a psychological problem. The most common treatments involve antidepressants. It is extremely unlikely that any substantial settlement will be offered.

2. I completely agree with the last person's comment. Basically, fibromyalgia is seen as a joke in the medical community, a label given when someone is saying they are in chronic pain and we can find no medical cause.
If taken to a court of law, they would most likely bring in medical experts and your case might be shut down. This is not a good diagnosis to bring to a workers comp case because it is a controversial diagnosis and there is NO real way to prove it was caused by a work accident. Sorry.

3. health insurance does NOT view FMS as psychological...

any workmens comp settlement tends to be inadequate--for any condition..

and anxiety pills are not a treatment for fms

most doctors are incompetant and make a joke out of fms by falsely diagnosing any little ache as fms--but assuming you really have it--good luck finding a competant doc who does not abuse the diagnosis..there are a grand total of 2 in my state..but they have even been hoodwinked by people faking fms

4. It would be a tough case to prove, You will need to find a reputable doctor who is familiar with fibromyalgia and it's causes
