Headache/Pressure: Back/Lower back of head?

About 4 weeks ago I woke up with this headache which I can actually describes as something between a headache and the sensation of pressure. The location of the pain is at the back of my head and feels as if it stops just where the neck starts. During the day I can feel it just simmering but it isn't really so that I would drink a painkiller.

The brunt of this headache happens during the night when I sleep. It seems to develop faster when I lie on my right side and when I turn to the left it seems to resides (going to sleep). During sleep it wakes me up and I feel horrible with pressure/pain. As soon as I wake more and sit/stand the headache seems to go away after a few minutes (not completely but just simmering again).

I can bend over, push pull etc and I don't get the pressure feeling in my head. My coordination and all other things seems very normal. Drinking painkillers during the day wouldn't take the simmer away completely it would just suppress it a bit more. My neck do feels a bit stiff the last few weeks.

The bad headache that awakes me up doesn't happen every night so there isn't a real pattern to it. The only thing I might have is a little elevated blood pressure and iron deficiency which I am being treated for.

Many Thanks
Forgot to mention: Both my forearems seems to die (sleep) during the night. This rarely happened in the past. Both ears also seems to "ring/high pitch" more than before.

1. I'm sure your headaches are coming from your neck or back and maybe both, I've suffered with headaches the same way and have bee taken to the ER many times some years ago, and found out later they were coming from both, I've had 8 spinal fusions with the rods and screws and still am in a lot of discomfort, still etc. but I don't have headaches anymore. Sometimes now I can get a slight headache in bed and as soon as I get up it quits I think it's probably you're laying on a nerve and when you get up it takes the pressure off the nerve. What a lot op people don't know is that the majority of headaches come from your neck.I used to take Imitrex shots, I'd give them to myself, now I take excedrin migraine pills, they are the best. Also get you a neck roll or better yet get you a neck collar to sleep in, not real firm one but one between soft and firm , you will be surprised how much it helps to sleep in it each night, I'd like to know how you came out if you try this, I could write a book on back, neck and headache problems, wish you all the luck with this
