what is the proper way to manipulate a back for tension relief?
I sometimes go to the chiropractor for back pain relief. If I can not get there how can my spouse properly "crack" my back for me?

1. BEER! not bair.
2. I would not recommend this. Chiropractors manipulating treatments cause permanent pain and you will need to keep coming back because the pain will come back
My sister in law is a chiropractor and she has and will never touch me.
3. DO NOT let him crack your back. There is a reason that chiropractors go to school and get certified in this. There is a possibility that if done the wrong way he can break your back. My mom is a massage therapist and even though she knows how to crack the back she legally can't because she can be sued if she injures someone. Save yourself the risk and just go to your chiropractor, or do it yourself as much as you can by twisting and bending, you know your own limits and what hurts, so there is less risk of hurting yourself.
4. You have to understand that chiropractors have years of training in spinal manipulation and the other procedures they preform. It is really best if you do not attempt this yourself, because lack of formal training could result in a very, very serious injury (such as a slipped disc or potential damage to the spinal cord). No one who attempts to answer your question will be able to give you proper instruction on this procedure; hands on training is needed with a professional. My suggestion: If you are having back pain, go to your doctor to determine the cause, and in the interim take some painkillers of some sort such as Ibuprofen or Tylenol. But as I said before, this is serious stuff; please don't mess with it.
