Which is more effective for back pain relief?

Myofascial release or trigger point therapy?

Public Comments

1. I would recommend a combination of the two, plus some swedish and a bit of shiatsu thrown in..

you dont state the cause of the pain, how severe or how intense it is..

more info would be helpful

good luck

2. It really depends on your body. As a chiropractic intern, I have used both on patients. Some respond well to trigger point therapy while others respond well to myofascial release.

I would also like to throw another one into the mix. It is called ART (Active release therapy). It has been shown to be extremely effective.

Keep in mind, all of these will function more efficiently with chiropractic care. Misalignment in joints causes extra tension the muscles in the affected area. In fact, some patients respond well enough with the chiropractic adjustments that they do not need the trigger point or the myofascial. It will all depend on the patient and how their body responds to each type of treatment.

I wish you the best
