Where you prescribed medication for your headaches during pregnancy?

I am 15 weeks pregnant and have been getting severe headaches for the last couple of weeks. They have gotten to the point where they now make me nauseous and make me throw up. So eating or even drinking is really hard. I know you are not supposed to take anything other than Tylenol, but that is not helping at all so I am out of options. I have a hard time functioning sometimes. I am calling my doctor in a little bit but I wanted to know ahead of time what others where prescribed and if it has helped. Please any information would be great.

1. My doctors have prescribed Vistaril. Yes it helped. :) Good luck honey.

2. Nope, nothing was prescribed, i had frequent headaches that were horrible for about 1 1/2 months straight. I did find that the Rapid realease tylenol worked better than regular tylenol.

3. I have severe headaches also and all the doctor allowed me to take was tylenol. Hopefully you have better luck than I did!

4. I didn't take any meds, but I did use the Indian Peppermint Pen from BeautiControl. It really helps take the edge off of a headache and REALLY helps with morning sickness!

5. No I was told I was only allowed to take tylenol, but I took extra strenght and dranked alot of water headaches are so common specially if you are dehydrated. My doctor told me to eat more throughout the day smaller meals and the longer you take without eating the worse your headaches will be.

6. There are other meds you can safely take for pain such as headaches while pregnant, but I wouldn't take anything until you check with your doc. Sounds like migraines if they are that severe and causing vomiting. Ask your doctor if you can take a migraine medicine and in the meantime try using an icepack on your head. A really awesome homemade ice pack is to pour a bottle of corn syrup into a ziploc bag (gallon size) and freeze it. It's better than a gel pack and is reusable! Best wishes!

7. At 15 weeks you can take Ibuprofen too. (It's only contraindicated during the third trimester.)

If that doesn't help, do call your doctor. There are MANY prescription pain meds that are considered safe during pregnancy. (It's not true that 'you can only take Tylenol.')
