Headache in pregnancy???

I am 20 weeks pregnant and I've had a constant headache for at least 2 days.
I also feel like my heart is thumping harder. (and I feel slightly hot)
Has anyone felt like this????

1. my partner had the same, and the midwife told us its very normal.

go to your chemists and get a product called 4head, it worked wonders.

2. You need to call your doctor and get your blood pressure checked, now! It may be nothing but it could also be the beginning of pre-eclampsia.

3. Call your doctor.

4. May want to call your doctor. Mine told me that if I had a headache for more than 24 hours & medication wouldn't help, I needed to call ASAP. I'm not saying something is wrong, I'm just suggesting you make contact to ensure everything is OK. Hope you feel better.

5. I dont no about the huart but headache is normal.

6. Could be normal anxiety but maybe you should call and leave a message with your doctor and see what he/she thinks.

7. Hi, i would go to the doctors and have it checked. It may be your blood pressure is up a little, so you may need medication.

I would not leave it since it has been 2 days and your heart is thumping.

All the best, you are 1/2 way there!!

8. Please call your physician's office (even though it's a weekend, they have an answering service).

Headaches that don't go away can be a sign of pre-eclampsia.

Always err on the side of caution and get things checked out!

9. in later pregnancy that could be a sign of a serious condition called pre-eclapsia, call your midwife asap.

10. i had a headache round about the same time as you do now and mine lasted 3 days, i used migrane kool and soothe which is a gel pack u put on your head and just stayed in bed in a darkened room till it passed, if u are in the uk i would call ur delivery suite as its the weekend (if u dont know the number call the main reception at the hospital and ask to be put thru) and ask them if they can check u out. they will take ur details and syptoms over the phone and give u advice if they dont feel u need to go in, but they will prob want to check ur bp!
u probably wont be in more than an hour but it will put your mind at rest and the midwives wont mind....as mine said your baby is the most precious thing in the world and thats what the midwives are there for.
ppl on here can give advice but u need a medically qualified person to give you a definte answer.

11. i have been feeling similar over the past couple of weeks and i'm just coming up to 15 weeks.i passed out last week and was having really bad headaches from when i woke up in the morning..i went to the doctors and my blood pressure was low and i had blood tests to see if i had anaemia as i had passed out.went back this week and the doc said my blood pressure was ok..been feeling better but got out of the shower this morning and my head just started banging and felt really hot.i have just took normal paracetamol you can have them when pregnant and lay down, feeling bit better but not 100%.i think it just comes with being pregnant...our bodies are going through so much change.but go to your doctor if you dont feel better he/she might be able to help and put your mind at ease.hope you feel better!

12. when i was pregnant the same happened to me and my midwife advised me to increase my carbs,so eat plenty pasta and potatoes.
this did infact work !!

13. i have had the same problem for the last two week. i went to the doc on friday and found out i have a systolic ejection heart murmur i have an urgent review with a cardiology clinic first thing monday morning. The doc said i would have had it from birth and never known but with pregnancy it can become a problem. nothing wrong in first pregnancy.
17 weeks preg with 2nd. just gone and get your self checked. hope all is ok..

14. I have felt like this for the past few weeks, im now 27 weeks gone and they are just as bad. i was told its normal, you can get paracetamol for it that is safe to take while pregnant although i havent taken anything for mine, i just sleep instead!

15. yes i have see ur midwife. u could be anemic and need iron. i left it and was so bad i had 2 go into hospital and be put on a drip..... contact ur midwife and explain ur symptoms.

good luck expecting my baby any day now. been on iron all the way through this pregnancy,so i know how ur feeling.

16. i should get my blood presure tested babe just incase

17. Yeah i had headaches throughout my 2nd and most of my 3rd pregnancy. Apparently your body produces twice as much blood created for your unborn baby but because it's far to tiny it doesn't need all that blood so it has nowhere else to go. This in time causes pressure and your head feels like it's the only part of your body to get hit with this pressure. As your pregnancy progresses your headaches should subside my advice would be is rest/sleep when you have a headache and keep up to date with midwife appointments to check out your blood pressure.
Also you must drink plenty of water when pregnant, headaches can be a sign of dehydration.
Hope this helps and that you feel betta soon, good luck for the future!!
