1. I am not a doctor so I won't tell you what I think it might be but I will tell you about my Kidney stone.

The pain ran from my lower right side and up my back and to my ribs. I also wanted to throw up.

Is her urine unusually dark? Kidney stones do this when they cause bleeding.

2. First off go see a doctor. We are just guessing here. But did she do anything like heavy lifting or work out? She could have pinched a nerve, could have kidney stones or maybe food poisoning? That is what the doctors get paid the big bucks. Good luck

3. I'm thinking more like kidney stones with the pain in the lower back and radiating up and down on her right side.

Chocolate, tea, dark colas and caffiene are all contributors to kidney stones which are very painful and if this is the case she will need to see a urologist for help passing the stone(s) . For me a kidney stone was worse than natural childbirth.

Also, consider if her monthly cycle is regular, if she takes birth control, etc....... A cyst on an ovary can also give those same symptoms, is many times overlooked but can be very painful also. In this case a gyn visit would be in order.

Both of these will cause nausea, even sometimes vomiting either from infection or severe pain. A fever is seldom present during either episode.

Even an urgent care can help at least to give her somethng for the pain, and take a urine sample to check for stones or other infection.

Good Luck and I do hope she feels better soon. I applaud you for being so caring as to try to find a solution. She's a lucky girl.
