HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE CYMBALTA TO GET OUT OF YOUR SYSTEM?
I AM ON CYMBALTA FOR FIBROMYALGIA AND I DONT THINK IT IS DOING ME ANY GOOD. MY DR. WANTS TO ADD LEXAPRO TO IT, BUT I WOULD JUST LIKE TO BE ON ONE THING.

1. any pill you take will take 3 to 5 days to get out of your system
2. SSRIs/SNRIs can take a few weeks..if you are on a high dose..
ask about decreasing the cymbalta while starting low on the lexapro...
the lexapro won't start working right away..
if you wait a few weeks for the cymbalta to clear--than it willbe a few weeks without therapeutic meds
forget that half life crap---it takes a few weeks for meds like cymbalta to build up their effectiveness..and will take a few weeks for the effectiveness to completely stop.
that is why you have to stop them for a few weeks before taking MAOI type drugs
3. CK is wrong - there are some drugs that never leave your system once you take them, fortunately this is not one of them. The elimination half life of cymbalta is 12 hours, so we can expect it to be gone within 4 to 5 halflives (2 to 2 and a half days).
BUT if you stop taking Cymbalta it will lead to major withdrawl side-effects. You may have trouble sleeping and flu-like symptoms. Don't play with this drug, you need to taper off of it.
