Bad headache in the back of head and temples?

A few months ago i got this really bad headache in the back of my head and temples. It lasted for about a week and finally went away after a few visits to a physical therapist, who told me my posture was bad and there was a lot of tension in my shoulders and neck area. Since then I've been getting headaches like the one I had, but they only last for a few hours or a day at the most. No pain medication helps me, and I've tried everything. Now I have one of my headaches but it's worse than usual. I tried tylenol, advil, motrin... basically everything. I have excedrin tension headache medication but it never seems to work. I don't know how long this one will last. How can I get it to go away?

1. sports creams, shoulder rolls, forward, back, chin to chest, ear to shoulder, R and L, check pillow, have tension headaches, try ice pack or heat pad, get Rx for fiorinal, for tension headaches, try swimming, you must carry your stress in your shoulders/neck? I do... bad posture can attribute to it, over all, general exercise is good, try walking w books balanced on your head, we used to do that or stand against a wall, have someone check your posture.. put in head, that you have to consciously do this, or you're going to cont w headaches, muscle tensions.... tylenol won't work, neither will Aleve (naprosyn). motrin/advil(ibuprofen) 600mg evry 6-8hrs may help w some inflammation, mostly need massage to get blood back to muscles/ stay hydrated, also... get enough sleep..

3. The same lifestyle choices that promote good health may reduce the frequency and severity of your tension headaches. Consider the basics:

* Eat healthy foods. Don't skip meals — especially breakfast.
* Exercise regularly. During physical activity, your body releases certain chemicals that block pain signals to your brain. If your doctor agrees, choose any exercise you enjoy. Walking, swimming and cycling are often good choices. But it's important to start slowly. Exercising too vigorously can trigger some types of headaches.
* Get enough sleep. Wake up and go to bed at the same time every day — even on weekends. Relax before you go to bed. If you don't fall asleep within 15 minutes, get up. Read or do another quiet activity until you become drowsy. Keep in mind that medications that contain caffeine or other stimulants, including some headache medications, may interfere with sleep.
* Avoid excess caffeine. Sometimes caffeine helps curb headaches. In fact, many headache medications contain caffeine. But heavy daily caffeine use — more than 600 milligrams of caffeine a day, or about four to seven cups of coffee — can cause headaches and irritability.

It could also be stress causing your headaches!

4. your describing a tension headache which starts at the base of the skull and radiates to the temples. bad posture is a major culprit but also working at a computer or paperwork for long periods can cause pain as well. The pain comes from the Occipital nerve that exits your skull at the back of your head and then goes to the temple area. Poor posture means that your leaning your head too much forward and causing pressure on the nerve. Once the nerve has been irritated, it seems to get irritated easier. The therapist should have given you exercises to do, if he/she didn't, they were only partly doing their job. Try laying on your back on a carpeted floor with a towel roll up under your neck but not your head and pillow under knees and try to relax. Also, ice pack or heat on back of neck and skull may help. You seriously need to address your posture and take necessary steps to correct it or you'll have with this from now on. Try therapeutic massage therapy to relax the muscles in the neck and shoulders but follow their advice on home exercises.

5. go to the doctor and explain everything that what you got in past and now and tylenol and other this type of medicine doesn't work. don't eat junk food coke energy drinks liquor and whiskey only drink vita rain water you can find in costco store that one is cheaper and good than vitamin water eat good staff like cereal, bagel,vegetables, and you can do yoga to that is good Too ! for more details you can go to library and find out best book or cd that give you all answers .
