Headache relief - painkillers not working?

I have a horrible headache - most likely caused by extreme stress as I am going through quite an emotional situation right now. First I tried ibuprofen for relief and that didn't work at all. Then I tried vicodin which helped for a little bit but isn't very helpful, and for obvious reasons I can't just take vicodin all day. Any advice?

1. If your like me you cary alot of stress in your neck and shoulders. Try an ice pack. Lay on your bed with the lights out with your ice pack under your neck and shoulders. It works great.

2. Your second poster has the right idea. I would suggest you place the ice pack over your forehead. I find that a heated pack works best on the muscles of the neck and shoulders. But most headaches result in dilated veins in your head and the ice will help decrease that dilation.

Hope you feel better soon.
