Can anyone give me some advice?
I just found out that I am 4 weeks pregnant. I take 3 prescription drugs. I take Atenolol for irregular heart rate, Dyazide for swelling and blood pressure, and Cymbalta for fibromyalgia. I don't go to the OB until next Tuesday. I called my pharmacist and they said it would be okay until my appointment but the family doctor says to stop taking all medications immediately. What should I do? When I don't take the Cymbalta I get really dizzy and sick. Can anyone give me advice?

1. You need to go see your doctor tomorrow and get off those meds if they are not safe, and get put on ones that are. When I was pregnant the first time my doctor took me off all of my meds on a friday afternoon, and sent me to see a specialist(diabetic) the following tuesday morning. I was all weekend without my diabetic and blood pressure medication, but I managed it pretty well.
2. My girlfriend was on cymbalta, it only takes about 3 days of feeling sick after you stop taking it. After that you're alright.
3. Personally I would go off of them just in case they are dangerous but is there any way to get in to see your OB any sooner? Have you explained the situation or even talked to the nurse about the specific medications? A lot of the time even if you can't talk to the doctor the nurses can tell you what's safe and what's not before your visit.
I added some info on one of the drugs you mentioned that may give you some insight as to whether or not it's okay during pregnancy or not. Hope I've been of some assistance to you.
4. what ever you do--DO NOT ABRUPTLY STOP TAKING ANY MEDS...you may need to ween off--you can get a bad migraine if you abruptly stop a SNRI like cymbalta--don't know about the others
did you tell the docs office you are on meds and need to know if you should continue--its up to them to at least tell you to stop--right away over the phone
