29 years old, severe body aches!?
I am a 29 year old female (screw this, I'm her husband and I'm writing this for my wife) ....she was recently diagnosed with optical neuritis, which is linked to Multiple Sclerosis.....the spinal tap came back clean (which doesn't rule MS out), one doctor suggested fibromyalgia.
My wife has been in a progressing stage of depression, severe body pain (to the point of her bawling her eyes out, even when she has been prescribed hydrocodone for the pain) anxiety, and her period has stopped for several months, and she is not pregnant.
It's almost as if she's giving up on all her hopes.....her financial issues, she can't get up to clean ANYTHING AT ALL.
what could be the other possible causes of such symptoms....she's crying right now, begging for some sort of answer.....but I believe I may be taking her back to the ER tonight. Still all they will do is prescribe her more pain medicine.....any guesses on the diagnosis would be greatly appreciated.

1. MS runs in my family, tho I have not been diagnosed with it. I was diagnosed with "chronic fatigue" some time ago tho.
I get severe aches and pains if I overdo any sort of exercise or repeated movement. If I chop veggies for example, it will cause my arms to ache terribly eventho it does not hurt at the time (no indication of overuse).
What works for me is to take an alieve as soon as I know I have overdone something (or think I might have). If I do that, it does not ache nearly so bad. It is not the pain relieving properties that help, but the anti inflamatory properties.
Any exercise must be done slowly, otherwise you get rebound pain that can keep you in bed for several days. If you are going to start walking, begin with a short route (5 minutes) and walk that for a week. The next week stay out for 10 min etc. Build it up slowly and you will not get the rebound pain.
I also manage my diet very closely. When I eat properly (lots of fruits, veggies and whole grains), I feel great and don't have near the trouble. When I eat junk, I feel like junk. This includes both pain and depression.
Also, the depression is helped by walking outside every day and getting some sunshine every day.
Anyhow, maybe some of these will help, maybe they will not...but I sure feel for her because I have been thru it.
2. Are you at all familiar with trigger points? They are uncomfortable when pressed, but in fibromyalgia, they hurt considerably worse than in normal people. And they keep hurting even when you stop putting pressure on them.
3. has she had her hormone levels checked>
have they done a lot of blood tests for lymes, lupus, viatamin deficiency
tehy need to repeat these tests--especially eh lymes--it has had a lot of false negatives..
did they assess the fibro tenderpoints?
if itis FIBROMYALGIA--ther is NO INFLAMMTION--so NSAIDS won't help much
4. I am so sorry that your wife is going through this pain and that you are having to see her go through it. Have you heard of Polymyositis? I have Dermatomyositis which is Polymyositis without the skin rash involvement. In a "flare" situation, the pain can be so severe no pain killer seems to work. It is inflammation of the muscles. The pain can be centered around the "trunk" of the body - ie. shoulders, hips, thighs. Does she have trouble and pain lifting her arms to brush her teeth or hair? Is she having trouble walking up stairs? LDN has helped me in a huge way. I now have no inflammation in my muscles and am getting stronger every day. My blood tests show the proof of LDN regulating my immune system and I feel it can help anyone with their symptoms because of the way it works. Good luck and God Bless.
