Pain in lower back, leg, and ankle all on right side only?
A loved one is experiencing pain
on their lower back, leg, and ankle.
All of this pain is on the right side only.
The pain has been going on for a few weeks.
The person does a lot of work at a desk,
and we are just wondering if the pain could just be
a result of that, or if it might be something else
that's more serious?
If anyone has any ideas, they'd be greatly appreciated!
Thanks and God Bless :)

1. sciatica:: first, first, check posture while sitting @ desk;; check body mechanics with ANY movement;; use flexible cold pack to low back for 20 minutes to reduce the radiating pain thru the leg;; then get checked by doc cuz something is causing this...
2. If the problem is going into the leg and ankle, it sounds like a nerve compression. A nerve is often compressed by either a structure (vertebrae or disc), or by a tight muscle.
Has this person seen a doctor yet? Since the problem has been existing for a few weeks, seeing doctor may be a good idea.
If the doctor does an x-ray an MRI and cannot find any problem, then there is a good chance that it is a muscular problem that can be released through therapeutic massage.
If the problem is sciatica (compression of the sciatic nerve), the sensation will be down the back of the leg.
Hope this is helpful and good luck.
3. Does sound like sciatica. Comes from sitting for long periods, does go down leg and can be on only one side..
Massage therapy and Yoga are best treatments available for sciatic pain.
The sciatic nerve in the largest nerve in the body is bilateral and when squeezed/pinched cause pain to shoot down the leg.
If you cannot afford a massage, Massage school have student clinics. Independent massage therapist are sometimes willing to work with financial issues...
