What should I do when doctors give up trying to help with my chronic knee pain?

Have been diagnosed with a degenerative knee problem that causes constant pain. Have seen multiple specialists and doctors all of which agree there is a problem, but do not know how to treat it. Now they have given up and said that I am too young for any pain treatment medications. Have tried injections, physical therapy and was told surgery would not fix it. What can I do to get them to help me?!?!?!?
I have been to 5 different Dr's ranging from my primary care to an orthopedic surgeon, they have all agreed I have chronic pain and I have tried every over the counter medication, muscle rub, and wrap I could find and I cant get any relief. My doctors have put me on extra strength ibuprofin, Relafen,Gabapentin- a nerve med,Cymbalta, and a few other things such as restless leg syndrome meds, still no relief. I keep being told Im to young to be on pain medication but I dont feel thats fair. I know and understand I will never be pain free but its not right that I cant get upstsairs to use my bathroom without help, Im 24 yrs old, Im to young to hasve this many limitations if you ask me. What do I do???? I cant help feeling like Im being descriminated against because of my age.

1. If you indeed have a degenerative knee problem then see an orthopedic surgeon, that's what they are for. If they can't he;p you they will give you a pain reliever, if not then maybe they think your not serious enough for one. Talk to them and find out why or see another doctor.

2. Why don't try home remedies. They work nicely than any other methods. try to Google or Yahoo the term "Knee pain home remedies" to get suitable answers for your query.

3. I am so sorry but let me tell you I feel your pain, I know where you are coming from. I have been dealing with constant pain in my knees for over 24 years and all I ever head was well your only 36 your too young to have a replacement. It was to the point that I was not able to do anything due to the constant pain (especially in the right knee) finally I decided that I had had enough so I ended up going to 10 OS docs that specialized in knees until one of them would look past my freaking age and do something to help me. I finally had my 6th surgery on this knee and the doc was upfront and honest with me he told me "this will not fix the problem but it will help with the pain the question is how much will it help" The only thing that will fix my problem is to take the entire kneecap out and not put it back :-(
Well I had the surgery (Maquet osteotomy) just a little over a month ago and while I don't think that it is going to relive the 75% of pain that my doc was hoping for it has made the pain a bit more bearable (helped I would say about 50%) Now the only problem is the left knee (which did have a lateral release done about 13 years ago) is really bitching and moaning with A LOT of pain having to do all the work. I am hoping that when I am thru with the crutches that it will quit but I am not holding my breath.
Kinda sucks you get some relief from the pain in one leg and the other starts hurting so bad that you are right back in the same amount of pain as you where before.
I hope that you find a doctor that will listen to you and do something to help you.
