I'm heading out to Basic Training with chronic knee pain in my right knee.?

I can jog and do push-ups and situps like a maniac. But squats and lunges are pretty painful. Does anyone know what kinds of exercises you do other than running that could effect the knee joint. (i.e. squats, lunges, squat thrusts, shuttle runs) or any other rapid turning and pivoting.

1. How where you able to join with chronic issues in the first place??? Let me guess you lied at meps and or didn't tell them...... Such a bright idea that was... NOT.

Can you say discharged from service for fraudulent enlistment because that is more than likely what is going to happen.

2. Your recruiter is your chain of command at this point in your career - you need to see a doctor for a diagnosis and let him know what is happening - you may need to change your ship date. My advice to you is don't go to basic until you are healthy - it's hard enough as is - there is no point in setting yourself up for failure.

3. Talk to your recruiter there is no point in doing basic and making yourself look like a piece of shit in the drill sergeants eyes, because new recruits always complain about pains but yet they still sign up and thats why they dont believe you, so talk to a PA (Physicians Assistant) at a Health Clinic or your recruiter ASAP and get out of going or post-pone it

4. Yeah, is anyone aware of this, recruiter, MEPS doctor?

Because running, pivoting, putting all kinds of weight on your knees, obstacles course, squats, lunges, front back gos, all of that is going to suck for you.

So you'll just have to be yet another Soldier on profile.

5. Basic is hell on perfectly healthy knees. talk to your recruiter. It may be in your best interest to talk to a docter, and maybe push back your ship date.

you will do all of the exercises you mentioned and so much more, to include things like combatives, and pugel fighting....

Good luck.

6. for the answer above me cortisone shots to the knee are inaffective....
