Okay so what do you guys do about severe lower back pain? Do you know to get rid of back pain quick? Any tips and advice would be great!

Public Comments

1. marijuana is a great pain killer.

2. google easy yoga stretches, they always help my back pain!

3. You are saying severe, so that would make me encourage you to see a doctor to see what is causing this much pain. When you find out, then you can properly be treated. For now, take some Advil or some sort of anti-inflammatory and put ice on your back for about 15 minutes. That should decrease any swelling you might have until you can see your doctor, or chiropractor.

4. It's not quick, but If you start sleeping on your back from now on, with a pillow under your knees it relieves the lowerback alot. Also, if your in the habit of cracking your back, then don't, because excessive cracking can hurt it too.

5. Millions of people suffer with back pain. It's not that easy and quick to get rid of it.

6. You can make your back pain subside, or even disappear, by applying pressure to a particular point on your body. That's simplified description of acupressure, a traditional Chinese technique that brings almost instant relief to back pain sufferers. By placing pressure on certain points on your body--points used in acupressure-- the Chinese believe you unblock the flow of vital energy or qi (pronounced chee).
These blockages, they say, create an imbalance of qi in the body, which can make you more susceptible to pain and illness. (Western scientists who have studied acupuncture, however, believe it may work by increasing the production of endorphins, hormone--like pain relievers your body makes in response to injury. The same may be true of acupressure.
However it works-- and it apparently does-- acupressure can erase almost all your pain in a matter of minutes or even seconds. I hope this helps you. And good luck.

7. Uh do not take the guy who said marijuana.. seriously. I know you would not anyways haha.

Anyways....

If you have had the pain for a long time it could very well be Chronic? I am really no expert on this stuff at all but I can do research online quite well. If it does not go away shortly or you have had it for a while then you may want to check out the site in my source. EITHER way it should help your back pain right up! I really hope you get over your back pain!

8. There are no magic answers or magic bullets for relieving back pain instantly. Some people do get good fast relief with acupuncture or acupressure, but that is just some people.

You don't mention how you may have injured your back, but if you have an injury you need to rest your back for a few days, not bed rest, just a few days of taking it easy. Then when the pain lets up you can start doing some easy stretches, and when your pain is will allow it, you should start doing exercises to strengthen your back to prevent a recurrence.

If you didn't injure your back your problem may be deconditioning and poor posture. If this is the case you need to begin some gentle stretches and easy exercises to strengthen your core and improve your posture .

You can read more about exercises and stretches for your back at:

I know none of this is going to relieve your pain very quickly, but like I said there are no magic bullets.

Good Luck

9. Massage can be a great help with acute and chronic lower back and hip pain in various ways.
Massage induces deep relaxation, reducing tension in the affected muscles. Massage increases endorphin levels, endorphins are the body's natural painkillers. Massage helps to increase the circulation of the blood in the affected area which again helps to reduce pain.
